If Meta has enough data to keep me 'alive' and posting in the Metaverse after my death ... then we really need to consider: Who do I trust my data with?

Like many things at the tech / wellbeing interface we know we are giving things up for ease. This is fine as long as we get the opportunity to make a choice.

There are lots of conversations about data harvesting & data privacy rights ... here are a few of my favorites & my quick interpretation:

  • Meta's Ghost Patent Approval ... basically Meta said we will use all your Meta history not just in Facebook, IG, and Whatsapp but also all the places you use your FB account to log into to generate an AI ghost that will 'live on' and continue to make new content without you. Feeding the content beast forever ...

This is giving me Moltbook vibes but instead of bots posting anonymously about to other bots they are bots pretending to be me. This also leads into the 'Right to be Forgotten' & 'Digital Inheritance', and the Danish copyright law that says you own the copyright to your face & voice conversation — Why is this kind of legislation necessary.

  • Pokemon Go data is being used to help drones find locations — this feels like a big Duh! What did you think it was doing? It is on everyone's phone, tracking movement and capturing real world location data. When they unlocked having users 3D scan pokestops by capturing 360 video I know they were making a map. I play Pokemon Go, I just don't leave it on all the time. This is a decision I made to play (and still enjoy).

  • De-Googling — this is the concept of stepping away from Google for running our life and business. I have been doing this since day 1 of my business and am so close! I still need silly Google Calendar for scheduling apps (but Zeeg & Proton are fixing this ... so close) and you need a Google account for a Youtube channel. Why de-google? Because by using their 'free' service they get to read your email, etc and send better targeted ads. Now there is a whole world of conversation around people who love targeted ads, but personally I am really happy the internet didn't know I was pregnant until I was 8 months in (and I got sloppy because I didn't care anymore). I love this example of Target sending advert for baby stuff in the post (yes real post) because a 20 something was buying all the products that signaled pregnancy — I always consider this for targeted marketing.

So watching all these conversations ... I have made decisions that probably categorize me as a Data Security Wonk. My husband asked me why are your research so much about GDPR and where your coaching client data resides (including their emails for first communication or scheduling a meeting) — when you have 2 clients a quarter. Did it burn yes ... but it felt important.

But it all made sense when I stepped into the Human Array as a technical advisor & implementation partner. The first thing I wanted to do was make sure we setup the architecture so ensure people know how & where their data lived, how it was being used, who and what (AI internal and external) could see it. As we setup spaces for allowing people to hold and collect their holistic journey — encryption is set by default and you can pick to what level. Our baseline is ... give you the information to make a decision. Honor that decision.

Personally I love how much feedback/response I am getting about our practitioner consent page (very proud) & wait until you see the new encryption selection page.

This then led down the rabbit hole of many amazing data architecture conversations at the PKM summit and opening the world of semantic web and decentralized infrastructure.

So of course I geeked out and started tinkering building my own Mayhem Control system v469 build with nodes and edges and looking at how to leverage this for the Holistic Health Hub data architecture.

Before you know it ... I was thinking about how awesome (and easy) it would be for everyone have their own little data pods (2 tables and file storage) that you can move around from system to system with generic interfaces on the internet. Imagine I own my Notion data but plug into their interface.

Taking my excited puppy enthusiasm, I reached out to some mentors in the industry and they introduced me to the Solid Project ...

This article is part of my digital garden, raw and sharing the adventure and excitement. Building in public. I don't know what we are building yet ... but it feels important to explore.

So my open questions to you today is: Where is your data? & what elements feel important for you to own completely? What are you willing to share for ease? Where is your limit (which ultimately comes down to values alignment)

Onward!
